Cyberlearning Tools for STEM Education (CyTSE) Conference
March 8-9, 2011
The Claremont Hotel Club & Spa
Berkeley, CA
Submissions due October 15, 2010
The call for presenters for the first annual CyTSE Conference is now available!
CyTSE will convene researchers, developers, and educational leaders interested incyberlearning tools to enhance STEM teaching and learning. There will be hands-on demos, training workshops, interactive breakout sessions, focus groups, and more during the two-dayconference.A goal of the conference is to bring together the cyberlearning R&D community
and K-12 educators to learn with and from each other.
We welcome principal investigators, project teams and K-12 educators to attend and presentat the conference. The conference will allow you to network with others working in theexciting field of cyberlearning, demo your work, and share best practices. We currently areaccepting proposals for breakout sessions, hands-on demos, professional development, focusgroups, and more. You are welcome to submit proposals for more than one type of session.
Please visit our website cyberlearningSTEM.org to download the call for presenter form. Thedeadline for submissions is October 15, 2010. Presentation slots are limited so submit yourproposal today!
The conference is scheduled for the two days immediately preceding NSTA in San Franciscoto allow participants to easily attend both conferences and save on travel costs.Transportation from CyTSE to NSTA will be provided for participants.
We have lined up a strong and inspiring slate of CyTSE 2011 keynote speakers!

In the face of the most serious economic crisis in generations, K–12 schools across the U.S. are slashing budgets and educational technology has become an easy target for cuts. The current crisis presents not just challenges, but also tremendous opportunities to strengthen technology investments, operations, programs, plans, staff and results.
Indicating that these reduced budgets are “the new normal,” Education Secretary Arne Duncan stated, “For the next several years, preschool, K-12, and postsecondary educators are likely to face the challenge of doing more with less. My message is that this challenge can, and should be, embraced as an opportunity to make dramatic improvements. I believe enormous opportunities for improving the productivity of our education system lie ahead if we are smart, innovative, and courageous in rethinking the status quo… Technology can play a huge role in increasing educational productivity, but not just as an add-on or for a high-tech reproduction of current practice. Again, we need to change the underlying processes to leverage the capabilities of technology.” --US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, American Enterprise Institute, Nov, 2010.
Attend the CoSN 2011 Annual Conference and learn how you can Master the Moment to successfully meet the current challenges we are all facing. Join with education technology leaders from the public and private sector to address these issues.
NEW! You won’t want to miss the premier of Innovation Central. We listened, we heard, and we are replacing the exhibit hall with a whole new concept. Innovation Central integrates open space with dedicated time for thought provoking conversations. The opening reception, conference plenaries, crystal ball sessions (a panel of ed tech foreseers and moderator) and digital poster sessions will all take place here. This is also the place to learn about the latest technology products and services by visiting the “Innovation Pods” and the Education of the Future Displays.
