Workshop: Cultural and Linguistic Competence in Survey Design & Methodology

From October 31 – November 2, the Evidence Quality and Reach Hub (EQR) will offer a free, multi-day workshop from 11:00 – 2:00 EST focused on  cultural and linguistic competence in survey design and methodology. During the virtual workshop, participants will receive guidance on how to write or select survey items with a lens toward cultural and linguistic competence (CLC), review the importance and strategies for pretesting survey items, and provide guidance on sampling and survey administration to reach target groups. This workshop aligns with the EQR Hub’s goal to offer services and resources related to research methods; knowledge translation; and diversity, equity, and inclusion to current and aspiring NSF grantees. 

Participants are expected to attend all three days of the virtual workshop and will gain access to methodological experts and survey resources.

NSF Grant Preparation Workshops: Building Capacity & Leveraging Technologies in STEM Education Research (Session 2)

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and Partnership for Expanding Education Research in STEM (PEERS) Data Hub have joined efforts to support education and data science researchers to extend their scholarship by hosting a virtual workshop series. These two workshops are designed to prepare participants for submissions to the ECR: BCSER program solicitation NSF 22-548.

Session 1: October 27th, 2022, 3 - 4:30 pm EDT
Session 2: November 9, 12 - 1:30pm EST

During session one, attendees will learn from NSF staff members about the expectations of the NSF 22-548 solicitation and the September 26, 2022, Dear Colleague Letter, how to apply, and tips to better ensure a successful application. Attendees will hear from researchers who have developed innovative STEM education research projects that exemplify the goals of the DCL. In preparation for session two, information will be gathered from attendees about areas of interest and expertise so that NSF and PEERS can support collaborations that are responsive to this DCL.
